TITLE: Summer Camp Volunteer
   
OBJECTIVE: To encourage children to enjoy and understand the wonders of nature, and to serve as role models.
   
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      Serve as a positive role model to campers.
2.      Prepare the day’s equipment.
3.      Check-in the campers on the first day and organize “ice breakers.”
4.      Plan game period after lunch, focusing on cooperative style games.
5.      Read the lunchtime story.
6.      Watch the campers before, after, and during camp.
7.      Work as a partner with staff to develop fun, educational activities.
8.      Work with small groups of campers during activities.
9.      Other tasks as assigned.
10. Have fun!
 
   
SKILLS: Volunteers should enjoy working with children, be able to demonstrate a respect for nature, serve as a positive role model for campers, provide dependable, responsible support for staff and campers.
   
TRAINING: A full-day training session held in mid June prior to the start of summer camps.
   
TIME REQUIREMENTS: One or two weeks during the summer.
