Want to learn more about the environment around you? Do you like the excitement of discovery, learning and self-growth, or just enjoy being in nature? Maybe you’re interested in becoming a citizen scientist, a teacher naturalist, or an interpretative

naturalist. Well then, the Riveredge Nature Center’s Naturalist Course is the program for you! This program can be suited to fit individual student goals and time commitments. Students will earn the required 100 points by attending required classes (full and half day) as well as elective classes.   Required classes range from 3 hours (half days) to 6 hours (full days) with the elective classes varying in time length. The goal is to have students participate in biology and ecology related activities outside of the required course schedule. Most classes will be held at Riveredge Nature Center; however, some will be held off-site.  Students need to acquire the 100 points within 2 years to be awarded a certificate ofcompletion. The completion of this course will allow students the opportunity to be become engaged in many citizen science programs and science based volunteering opportunities.
