Fostering a diverse landscape to inspire and engage learning has been one of Riveredge’s strengths for over 40 years. What we’ve learned is that every wild place has its own unique character and hides its own set of secrets. We’ve learned that the most important wild place is the one nearby. Whether prairie, forest, thicket or pond – a Wildscape is a diverse environment that pulls us, engages a feeling of adventure and expands our relationship with the natural world - a landscape with secrets and opportunities for discovery: When will the raspberries ripen? How do pollywogs become frogs? Has the hummingbird egg hatched?
A Wildscape draws adults and children into direct contact with a diverse, natural environment and provides opportunities for unstructured exploration and discovery. Wildscaping renews and strengthens connections to neighborhoods, schoolyards and backyards – the place’s where children build their earliest, strongest and most lasting relationships with the natural world.
In 2010, Riveredge’sWildscaping services will help you plan, establish and maintain a wilder and more engaging landscape. Through the Wildscape Initiative, Riveredge is offering a set of customized on-site services that will minimize the work and maximize the enjoyment of your new wilderness landscape. Wildscaping services include: site evaluation, ecological inventory, natural landscape design, rain garden design, butterfly garden design, natural playground planning, planting plans, land management planning, stewardship training, project management and more.
