In this presentation\, the primary focus will be on resident and migratory bird species using the wet habitats of the bog\, e.g.\, cedar swamp\, hardwood swamp\, conifer bog\, string bog\, sedge meadow\, willow/alder/dogwood swamp\, and six glacial relict lakes surrounded by emergent vegetation. Much of the Bog has boreal features which attract species not typically breeding anywhere else in southern Wisconsin. Special attention will be given to these species as well as to recent arrival species looking for a new home. \nThis program is offered in-person and virtually. The Visitor Center is integral to our education\, conservation\, and research initiatives. The building\, however\, has remained largely unchanged since its construction in 1990. Our Growing Legacy Campaign seeks support from our community to fully realize the potential of this remarkable building. \nPlanned renovations include these features and more: a more visible entrance with ADA accessible entry\, fully accessible restrooms\, an ADA lift between levels\, a modern community gathering space\, a wet lab classroom on the building’s pond level. \nTrail improvements are another key part of the campaign’s goals\, making navigating the trail system easier\, clearer\, and more accessible. With your support\, we’ll address critical needs\, ushering a new era of accessibility\, sustainability\, and community engagement.
