In 1987\, this estuary was designated as an Area of Concern under the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement due to manmade river modifications\, loss of fish and wildlife habitat\, and pollution that contributed toxic contaminants to the rivers and Lake Michigan. \nArea of Concern Community Advisory Committee members will share more information on the Milwaukee Estuary’s history\, its importance\, and the impact of efforts to advance cleanup efforts with an emphasis on equity and community engagement.
