Our apologies! \nJim Hahn will give a presentation entitled\, “The Milky Way: The Galaxy We Call Home.” Among the questions we will answer: What would it be like to live near the center of our galaxy? What would we find there? Is our galaxy typical? We’ll get up to date on the many discoveries about our galaxy in the last few years. After our program indoors\, we will head outside to look through telescopes at the wonders of the Milky Way. Please dress warmly. \nJim Hahn is a lifelong amateur astronomer who learned the constellations at eight years old and built a telescope at fifteen. When the sky is not dark and clear\, he writes software\, rides his bike\, and sings in two choirs. DESCRIPTION:August 20 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm\n              \n                  SAWW Level 1 Chainsaw Training \n              \n              Join SAWW (Safety and Woods Worker) trainer Luke Saunders (Forester with Blue Heron Stewardship LLC) for a hands-on training in chainsaw use\, maintenance\, and technique. Spend time both outside and in the classroom\, practicing how to operate chainsaws safely\, comfortably\, and productively. \nThis class is part one of a four level series through the Safety and Woods Working training program (SAWW). Topics include: personal protective equipment (PPE); body mechanics; chainsaw safety features; the chain and the cutter tooth; reactive forces; planning and executing tree felling\, limbing\, and bucking; introductory bore cutting and open-face felling. Hands-on training gives participants the opportunity to fell at least one tree. Participants are encouraged to bring your own equipment and lunch.
