Partnership with Access Ability Wisconsin – Outdoor Wheelchair

AAW – “OutdoorS access 4 all”!

Through a partnership with Access Ability Wisconsin, Riveredge is an Ozaukee County site for an all-terrain outdoor wheelchair (OWC).  An outdoor wheelchair (OWC) is a wheelchair with tracks in place of wheels. OWCs are designed to be used on trails in Wisconsin year-round. The OWC includes an adjustable attachment arm for outdoor activities, which can be used as a rail for photography, fishing, spotting scopes, shooting sports; pretty much any activity where it might be useful to rest something in front of or next to you.

Step one: check if the AAW equipment is available at Riveredge. (call: (262) 375-2715 or email Steff at [email protected])

Step two: make a $50 reservation deposit through the AAW Paypal (credit/debit/Paypal) on AAW website:  under ‘Reserve’ tab. (Have your transaction code available for the AAW reservation form.) Your deposit will be returned when the chair is returned in working condition along with your photo and completed survey. Starting in July 2024, there will also be a $2.75 processing fee to use the chair.

Step three: fill out the reservation request form (Reserve!) on the AAW website (be sure to ‘Submit’, you will get a pdf copy email from AAW when it goes through.)

Step four: after your outdoor chair use, share your experience and enter an online client survey through the AAW website under “Surveys”. You will also be asked to submit a photo of yourself using the chair via email.

“Using the OWC (outdoor wheelchair) makes hiking with our family on the beautiful trails of Riveredge possible!  We are so grateful for the use of this chair.”
