Exploring the Milwaukee River Kayak Tour
in Grafton
Join a Riveredge Adventure Educator to explore the history, flora, and fauna of the Upper Milwaukee River in Grafton by kayak. During the paddle, we will stop at the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust’s Bratt Woods Preserve. No experience required. Single person kayaks, paddles, and life jackets provided.

Open Climb:
Autumnal Views from the Canopy
Enjoy Riveredge’s beautiful fall foliage in a new way – from the canopy! Ascend trees bursting with color and appreciate the autumn colors from the top. Our Tree Climbing programs are meant for youth and adults, age 7 and above, with little to no tree climbing skills. We make it safe and easy! All equipment is supplied. All you need is loose clothing (T-shirt and long pants recommended), closed toe shoes (hard soles recommended), garden gloves, and an adventurous spirit. Pre-registration is required. Tree Climbing Programs often fill quickly.

Beginner Milwaukee River Kayak in Newburg
Join us on a beautiful 6 mile paddle down the Milwaukee River to see Riveredge from a new perspective – on the water! Look out for wildlife, such as deer, eagles, and herons, as we meander through one of the most beautiful segments of the Milwaukee River. Recommended for beginners with some experience or those with a sense of adventure. We’ll provide kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and instruction. Don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, water, and enthusiasm.

Sauve Terre Farm
Meet us at Sauve Terre Farm in West Bend (address below) for a tour of a local, ecological, grass-fed beef farm. Sauve Terre Farm strives to support ecological regeneration with perennial plantings and rotational grazing, all while creating a nutrient-dense, healthy, local food source, which will be available to sample. Focus on the calves, cows, and rotational grazing.

Family Sunset & Night Hike
For this family-oriented event, enjoy a relaxed hike with a Riveredge Educator to a peaceful sunset lookout. As dusk sets in, the group will hike back towards the pines where darkness lays thick like a blanket for some special experiments. If the clouds permit, the program will close with stargazing.
Come prepared with layers, bug spray, and walking shoes. This will be a 1-2 mile hike.

Plant Medicine Walk
Erica Bhatti, member of the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe, will lead a plant medicine walk following her beading class. Join for one or both! We will experience the healing qualities of spending time with and getting to know our non-human (most often green) kin.
The walk will be about a mile and a half on boardwalks, gravel trails, and earthen trails, rain or shine!
This event is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated!

Community Science Day
at Horicon Marsh
Have you ever wanted to see a bird up close and in the hand, tag a monarch or learn how to catch dragons and damsels? Join Horicon Marsh as they welcome experts to showcase all the ways that you can build your community science skills! Watch Riveredge Nature Center bird bander, Jana, up close from 7-11am. Join members of the Wisconsin Dragonfly Society from 9:30-11:30am to learn tricks on identification and how to catch them. Tag a monarch at the beginning of its journey to Mexico from 12:30-2pm plus more!

Family Geocaching
Join us for a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game- Geocaching! Families with children ages 6 and up can search for our 10 hidden caches throughout the Riveredge property. Bring an object to swap along your discovery mission. A short course and long course will be available. Handheld GPS units provided. A Naturalist will be on hand to get you started- the rest of the journey is up to you!
This adventure is come and go, but please estimate an hour to an hour and a half to complete your route.
For ages 6 & up. Younger siblings are welcome to tag along too!
