Adventure and Exploration Day at Riveredge
Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Riveredge! Awaken your curiosity, engage your body, and explore the beautifully restored Riveredge landscape through self-guided and educator-led activities. Winter Solstice Celebration: Adventure and Exploration Day at Riveredge is designed for folks of all ages to get active outdoors and discover a variety of ways to enjoy nature. Adventure awaits!
– Guided Hikes 11am, 1pm, 3pm | 1 hour long
– Crafting in the Coop 2-6pm | Bring a recycled, clean glass jar to make a luminary! Extra will be available. We will also be making bird feeders and coloring mindfulness mandalas.
– Bonfire 4:30-8pm | S’mores and healthy snacks will be provided
– Winter Solstice Yoga 5-6pm | Register separately here – $15 for non-members, $10 for members
– Night Hikes 5-6pm, 6:15-7pm | Please do not use a flashlight or headlamp. Instead, we will let our eyes adjust to the darkness.
Free for all participants (except yoga). Pre-register by December 20 at 11:55 pm or register at the program if spots are available. Pre-registration required for yoga by December 20 at 11:55 pm.

Frothy Forage
Drink and do good! The Frothy Forage showcases local breweries, wineries, and cideries in the stunning natural setting of Riveredge Nature Center.
Enjoy three hours of sampling in a custom glass from over 15 local purveyors. Take a stroll through beautifully restored prairies, woodlands, and wetlands with food trucks and live music along the way.
All proceeds support Riveredge’s mission of connecting people to nature through environmental education and conservation in southeastern Wisconsin.

Pancake Breakfast
We invite you to join us as we close out the maple sugarin’ season the best way we know how- with all you can eat pancakes held outside right in the middle of the Sugarbush.
Menu includes all you can eat pancakes (not gluten free) along with pure maple syrup (with optional pickle!), a serving of ham, coffee, and juice. See below for more information about parking, weather, drinks, and more.

Important Details for Attendees
• Park at the Visitor’s Center for your scheduled seating time (If someone in your group has mobility issues, you’re welcome to drop them off at the Sugarbush House and then park at the Visitor’s Center).
• Check in takes place at the Visitor’s Center.
• Hike to Sugarbush House.
• The program takes place outdoors, so dress for the weather. We pancake rain or shine. Or snow. Or frogs. You get the drift.
• Event concludes an hour after beginning so that we can clean for the next seating.
• We’ll be cooking all-you-can-eat pancakes for additional servings.
• Mimosas and beer are available for purchase, please bring cash if this is of interest.
• Maple sugarin’ season items for sale in the Nature Store in the Visitor’s Center, which will be open.
• The trails may be muddy…we recommend that you wear hiking or mud boots.

Introduction to Kayaking for Adults
Learn how to kayak with Riveredge! This class is designed for adults (ages 18+) who have little or no kayaking experience. A Riveredge Adventure Educator will introduce you to the fundamentals of kayaking on calm water, including essential gear, paddling technique, and safety measures. We’ll provide kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. You provide a hat, sunscreen, water, and enthusiasm. Participants must know how to swim. We will use single person kayaks. Park pass is required and not included in the fee.
