While winter is coming, we are already thinking about spring! Come help out at the Riveredge Farm by planting garlic bulbs for the coming growing season. You’ll learn about different varietals and how to plant and care for garlic in your garden.

Overwintering Your Garden, Work and Learn!
This is a hands-on program designed to equip you with essential skills for preparing your garden for the winter months. In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn practical techniques for protecting your plants, enhancing soil health, and planning for a vibrant spring garden. Todd, Riveredge’s Farm Assistant, will guide you through seasonal tasks, transplanting perennials, composting, and selecting winter crops. Bring your enthusiasm and curiosity as we work together to ensure your garden thrives year-round. This family friendly program will help you grow green and keep your garden flourishing through every season.
All ages welcome! Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Green Thumb Gardeners
Kids and their adult guardians are invited to gather in the Children’s Garden at Riveredge to explore the bounty of green thumb gardening! We’ll share a short story, dig in some garden beds, sniff and taste some fresh foods, and all lend a hand in taking care of the garden.
For kids ages 2-10. Siblings and adults in the family are welcome to tag along.

Family Nature Club:
Seed Starting using Recycled Materials
Spring is here! Let’s get a head start on our gardens by planting seeds to germinate and sprout indoors. We gather at Riveredge and get creative and use recycled materials as pots and trays, so feel free to bring black and white newspaper, toilet paper rolls, plastic fruit containers, egg cartons, and/or milk jugs. Soil, seeds, and extra recycled materials will be provided.
Family Nature Club is a free offering to our community designed for kids ages 5-12 and their families. We facilitate outdoor, environmental-education based experiences for families to enjoy together.
Pre-registration is highly recommended, but not required.
