Become a Water Quality Monitor

Join Milwaukee Riverkeeper and Riveredge staff to learn how to assess the water quality of a nearby stream or river. You’ll find out how to identify aquatic invertebrates and do five water quality tests. Monitors are asked to conduct tests monthly during the summer and submit their data to the statewide Water Action Volunteers website.

Ages 18+

This program is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated!

Family Nature Club Milwaukee River Clean Up

Looking for a way to make a difference this upcoming Earth Day? We encourage you to particpate in this amazing opportunity. Join the Milwaukee Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup for a morning of cleaning up our beloved Milwaukee river. There are three locations to choose from, take your pick! Ms. Rachel will be at Peninsula Park in Saukville. Other Riverdge educators will be at Fireman’s Park in Newburg and Lime Kiln Park in Grafton.

All ages are welcome!

Pre-registration required by April 18 at 11:55 pm, though all Spring Cleanup Sites do take walk-ups on the day of–you’ll just have to register on arrival.

Tea & Topics Beavers in the Milwaukee River In Person and Virtual

Beavers are ecosystem engineers with the ability to build and maintain diverse wetland habitats. Beaver ponds have the potential to store and filter floodwater and increase the quality and quantity of habitat for fish, birds, mammals, and other wildlife. Cheryl Nenn from Milwaukee Riverkeeper to discuss the current beaver populations within the Milwaukee River Basin, how humans are partnering with beavers around the world to reduce flooding and increase wetlands, and how beavers might be able to play a larger role in our watershed in the future.
