Ascend to the top, swing from a branch, or try a “bat hang” – Adventure awaits!

The Tree Climbing Festival Registration includes 20 minutes of climb time (please choose a time slot when registering), a scavenger hunt along the trails, a naturalist-led hands-on nature investigation, and access to picnic areas for lunch (please pack a lunch and be mindful of single use plastic waste).

Pricing*: $25 per participant – Includes 20 minutes of tree climbing – Climbing is reserved for youth participants ages 7+
Limit of 12 scouts or girl scouts per 20 minute climbing time slot
At least one adult chaperone per 10 youth is required for scout groups.

Pre-registration is required by May 1 at 11:55 pm. Use the button below to register for a 20 minute tree climbing slot.

*If a sibling (scout age 7+) of a registered climber wants to attend the festival without climbing, you can add a non-climber registration for $7 using the button above and choosing the non-climber option. The non-climber must be a scout age 7+ and registered with at least one climber.

Trails Aglow: Stargazing Scavenger Hunt

January 24 @ 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Trails Aglow: Stargazing Scavenger Hunt

Enjoy your Friday night by luminary light! Take in the beauty and serenity of a crisp winter evening on a self-guided 1.5 mile illuminated trail – a great adventure for both grownups and children. Traverse our trails on skis, snowshoes (6+ inches of snow), or your own two feet. A warm fire and hot cocoa will be awaiting you when you return.

Embark on a journey of cosmic discovery with our Stargazing Scavenger Hunt! This unique experience blends the excitement of a traditional scavenger hunt with the magic of stargazing, creating a night filled with discovery and awe-inspiring celestial wonders. As you hike the luminary trail, use clues to identify specific celestial landmarks in the night sky. Stop at telescope stations along the way to get a closer look at the cosmos. Astronomy Guides will be on hand to provide assistance and share interesting facts about the astronomical wonders under observation. Binoculars encouraged! Headlamps, especially those with a red light, recommended!

If the sky is cloudy, astronomer Jim Hahn will provide an hour-long presentation called “The Sun’s Place in Space.” What occupies the space in our little corner of the Milky Way galaxy? How have we discovered and established distances to our neighbors? Join us as we explore the Sun’s neighborhood, covering concepts like light-time and stellar evolution along the way. Afterward, participants can experience our solar system with the “Journey Through the Cosmos: Planetary Walk.” This self-guided experience invites participants to explore the relative distances between planets in our celestial neighborhood through a scaled model walk, providing an engaging and educational adventure for all ages.

Snowshoe rental is available ($10/hour for non-members and FREE for Members). Event may be altered/canceled due to weather conditions.

All ages welcome | Children must be accompanied by an adult
Trails Aglow programs are now free for everyone!

Pre-registration is not required, but helpful so we can update you about weather conditions or cancellations.
