Adventure and Exploration Day at Riveredge
Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Riveredge! Awaken your curiosity, engage your body, and explore the beautifully restored Riveredge landscape through self-guided and educator-led activities. Winter Solstice Celebration: Adventure and Exploration Day at Riveredge is designed for folks of all ages to get active outdoors and discover a variety of ways to enjoy nature. Adventure awaits!
– Guided Hikes 11am, 1pm, 3pm | 1 hour long
– Crafting in the Coop 2-6pm | Bring a recycled, clean glass jar to make a luminary! Extra will be available. We will also be making bird feeders and coloring mindfulness mandalas.
– Bonfire 4:30-8pm | S’mores and healthy snacks will be provided
– Winter Solstice Yoga 5-6pm | Register separately here – $15 for non-members, $10 for members
– Night Hikes 5-6pm, 6:15-7pm | Please do not use a flashlight or headlamp. Instead, we will let our eyes adjust to the darkness.

Pancake Breakfast
We invite you to join us as we close out the maple sugarin’ season the best way we know how- with all you can eat pancakes held outside right in the middle of the Sugarbush.
Menu includes all you can eat pancakes (not gluten free) along with pure maple syrup (with optional pickle!), a serving of ham, coffee, and juice. See below for more information about parking, weather, drinks, and more.
Non-Member: $15 | Members: $12 | 3 & under: Free

Important Details for Attendees
• Park at the Visitor’s Center for your scheduled seating time (If someone in your group has mobility issues, you’re welcome to drop them off at the Sugarbush House and then park at the Visitor’s Center).
• Check in takes place at the Visitor’s Center.
• Hike to Sugarbush House.
• The program takes place outdoors, so dress for the weather. We pancake rain or shine. Or snow. Or frogs. You get the drift.
• Event concludes an hour after beginning so that we can clean for the next seating.
• We’ll be cooking all-you-can-eat pancakes for additional servings.
• Mimosas and beer are available for purchase, please bring cash if this is of interest.
• Maple sugarin’ season items for sale in the Nature Store in the Visitor’s Center, which will be open.
• The trails may be muddy…we recommend that you wear hiking or mud boots.

Tickets can be refunded 75% up to two weeks before the event and 50% up to one week before. No refunds will be issued less than a week before the event

Outdoor Adventure & Exploration Day is designed for youth and their families to get active outdoors and discover a variety of ways to enjoy nature. Adventure awaits!
Youth of all ages are welcome, under 16 with a parent or guardian. Some activities may be better suited for ages 7+, but there will be something for all.
Free for all participants. Pre-register by October 18 at 4:00 pm or register at the program if spots are available.

Fungi Exploration Hike
Riveredge Environmental Educator Liv McClain will lead a fantastic fungi foray. We’ll learn about this fascinating kingdom through discussion and our senses. Whether you’re not sure what fungi are or you’re an amateur mycologist, all are welcome! Come ready for about 2 miles of hiking and time outdoors.
All ages welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This program is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated!

Everyone cuddle in for this well loved story! We’ll create animal masks, do a mitten match up, and search for animal homes outside. Learn tons about winter animals and have fun with our friends!
Nature Tots is an early childhood program designed for learners ages 1-4 years old, accompanied by an adult guardian. A Riveredge Naturalist will focus on outdoor exploration, literacy, physical development, nature intelligence, and social development.
