Join us for an insightful exploration of the Milwaukee River’s past and present. This engaging presentation delves into the geological, cultural, and environmental forces that have shaped the river over time. Discover the river’s fascinating history, from its ancient origins to its role in shaping local communities. Then, dive into its vibrant ecosystem as we introduce you to some of the river’s remarkable inhabitants, including macroinvertebrates.

This program also serves as an informative introduction to the Community Rivers Program, offering attendees a glimpse into the ongoing efforts to conserve and enhance the Milwaukee River watershed.

Perfect for all ages, this program offers a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of history, ecology, and community along the Milwaukee River.

This program is free for everyone, but donations are greatly appreciated!

Community Rivers Program Milwaukee River Day

Immerse yourself in Milwaukee River Day with engaging activities such as critter-catching, water testing, and expert insights on conservation efforts, offering a valuable opportunity to connect with the river’s ecosystem. Ages 6+

Park and meet at the Riverdge West Parking Lot (address below).

FREE for Residents of CRP Communities (Grafton, Saukville, Newburg, Kewaskum, Fredonia)!

Become a Water Quality Monitor

Join Milwaukee Riverkeeper and Riveredge staff to learn how to assess the water quality of a nearby stream or river. You’ll find out how to identify aquatic invertebrates and do five water quality tests. Monitors are asked to conduct tests monthly during the summer and submit their data to the statewide Water Action Volunteers website.

Ages 18+

This program is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated!
