In this workshop we will tour successfull prairie plantings across southern wisconsin, discuss their installation methodologies and most importantly get to know how to identify seedling prairie plants as the first signs of a successfull seeding.
These naturalist guided experiences are designed with 45 minutes of structured play & exploration followed by 45 minutes of free play.
We’ll get up to date on the many discoveries about our galaxy in the last few years. After our program indoors, we will head outside to look through telescopes at the wonders of the Milky Way.
Scouts can explore trees from a new perspective, search a scavenger hunt along the trails, participate in a naturalist-led hands-on nature investigation, and enjoy access to picnic areas for lunch.
Nature Tots is an early childhood program designed for learners ages 2-5 years old, accompanied by an adult guardian. A Riveredge Naturalist will focus on outdoor exploration, literacy, physical development, nature intelligence, and social development.

Spend an evening under the stars! Jim Hahn will guide us along the Milky Way from Sagittarius to Cassiopeia, stopping at star clusters, double stars, and other fascinating sights. Saturn will make an appearance, and we might even track down distant Neptune. Telescopes will be set up for closer views. This event is all outside. Bring binoculars, a reclining lawn chair or blanket, a jacket, and mosquito repellent.
Work with regional botanis Zach Kron for both inside and field instruction on how to identify the many asters and goldenrods of Riveredge's fields and forests. See species in their natural settings and leave with new identification skills.
This evening beneath the stars brings community together to support our mission, expanding our legacy of environmental conservation and capacity to create connections to nature for all people.
The café is intended for people with all stages of memory loss and their caregivers. Fun nature related activities are planned for the group each month.
